    I always wondered about those “garlic press” gates and the standards used to design them….So the average NY’er is supposed to be the size of military recruit. It’s also incredible that selling a swipe is charged as a felony!

    Well researched, informative & nuanced piece that is very informative for every New Yorker. I’m now convinced that we New Yorkers deserve a safer, more accessible public transit service, free from barriers of ability (elevators also come to mind). Surely the funding now going to a tone-deaf corporation could be better used for better design & upgrades, including a 24 hour staff. Well done, Professor McClain!
