Pleasant to see this now, although it was all forseeable from the get go with Bill and his Deputy Mayor Melissa, as many people and other groups said at the time.

Melissa Mark-Viverito is the City Council member representing City Council district #8, which covers parts of East Harlem & the South Bronx. She is also the City Council Speaker. I’m not aware of NYC having a “Deputy Mayor”.

That’s right about Mark-Viverito. New York does have several deputy mayors, who are appointed by the mayor.

Considering that REB – NY (the developers’ lobbyists) are the biggest donors to Mayor Bill Blah – Blah – Sio, who expected any thing different.

Very discouraging. We might as well give up the fight to keep HDFCs affordable given the example of East Harlem’s hard work which seems to be all in vain.

The struggle continues but we will not give up. Siempre para alante.

We went through this same struggle in ENY and found that cats and dogs who eat out the same plate will have each other’s back. When the vote against rezoning still passed after the community, many organizations, and one lone Councilmember Inez Barron voted against it. Community was not their concern. The pockets is lined with developers money, therefore the Councilmember for this district is going to sell out. ???
