I fully agree with the author. Major changes need to be made with the MTA. People need to be responsible and held accountable. The way the MTA has been run the last 3 decades has been scandalous. Service has consistently deteriorated. They are mysteriously NEVER able to balance the budget with out a bailout and raising fairs. MTA employees are constantly taking advantage and being paid for hundreds of hours which they do NOT work. Forcing the public to foot the bill by raising fairs.

These repeated travesties existed long before Covid 19 and reduced ridership. The current events are only the latest EXCUSE for the MTA to cry they have NO money. In the past year alone numerous activities have come to light of inappropriate employee actions and expenditures. Unfortunately, the instances of employee theft only scratches the surface, and is the tip of the iceberg. There are many more employees that have committed illegal actions that have not yet been discovered and brought to public knowledge.

Ultimately, the riders are left holding the bag. While the employees are living the high life, in hidden underground break rooms, and booking overtime hours in NYC while they are gambling in Atlantic City. I am sure every one of the riders would love to have jobs that pay them while they are vacation!
