The author needs to provide some examples of what she is talking about. Is she saying that when a student tells a counselor, “My mother hit me with a broomstick,” the counselor is mandated to report that, and the child may be removed from his home to his detriment? (Even a Brooklyn Assemblywoman was accused of that.) The author really leaves us guessing when she talks about the harm mandated reporters can do. Some hypothetical examples would have been very helpful in this opinion piece.
