I live in KY and my Casa worker has that exact profile and attitude. How can I get her fired or off my case? I’m terrified of her. I’ve always been very respectful and honest and polite but she’s so judgemental and unfair and bias. Please help.

Casas in California are a joke. The social services cps workers are so stupid and if a CASA exposes their idiocy they are pushed off case and dumbo casa supervisors may be weak and wont see whats happening. So pathetic. Yuk. No thank.you. Go elsewhere and volunteer. This system is so corrupt and you cant change it being a CASA.

I trained to be a CASA volunteer with lots of enthusiasm and anticipation about the work. When I went to work on my first case, the professionals shut me out. The problems that were so obvious were not being addressed quickly or adequately by the social worker, and I met with a city CASA official to list what should be done immediately for this child’s psychological health. I have 10 years of experience working for an agency that treats abused children, but the experts paid no attention to me. I am white, a male, and everyone involved in the child’s care was black — his social worker, his attorney, his deputy juvenile officer, his foster parents, his therapist. When I spoke up they shut me out. They wouldn’t even acknowledge my concerns. So I quit. I wasn’t wanted in their midst. When asked by CASA management why I resigned, I said they obviously had no interest in hearing anything from a white guy.

Interesting perspective but I think your argument proves that the study’s findings are correct. Maybe you should volunteer with other white CASA volunteers. Not discrediting your frustation with the system’s lack of timeliness, but it’s possible your narrow understanding of being marginalized didn’t inspire the Black constituates who were dealing with a Black child’s problems.
