United Healthcare has gotten too big and when patients lives are at stake- there should be an intervention by the government, whether state or because UHC. ‘A reach is so big including their exorbitant rates thru AARP., as the part F or G additional coverage for 20% reimbursement after Medicare pays-
Solution – the days of 1984- yes – big brother is watching but the government interceded in breaking up a monopoly call AT &T into Baby Bells. Time to step in and break up United Healthcare’s gigantic power and influence.
Hospital rates are exorbitant without insurance but come down with negotiated policies. An extensive back fusion before the negotiated rate may be $400,000 but the patient pays little if hosp and doc are in network.
Yes, hospitals and systems have grown and consolidated but it’s time for the government to step in and stop the outrageous profits and power of the insurance companies, in health, life insurance, property and casualty and every facet of insurance where they take your premiums and then you have to fight for reimbursement.

Hospitals and Insurance companies exist to serve communities of human beings. No doubt a version of this statement is included in the mission statements of the corporations. The ease with which this principle has been obscured, placing “covered lives” at risk, when these two health care corporations lock horns over profit suggests that their central mission my not be as lofty as we are lead to believe.

No, Remember the purpose of the insurance company is to make money for their stockholder and don’t worry, UHC is making it hand over fist. The ‘care’ part of the name is usually forgotten about in the name of Profits. Argh

This has been a nightmare. All of our physicians are associated with Montefiore. I have struggled to find new doctors. During a global pandemic United should be ashamed of themselves for taking away our doctors! They had billions of dollars in profit last year and they can’t pay the hospitals more? I reached out to all of my representatives in Congress and not one got back to me- also very disappointing. I am holding out hope this will be resolved soon.

It’s time for a single payer system in this state and country.
    It’s long overt!

Interesting that the VERY CONCERNED local POLITICIANS choose NOT to GET INVOLVED in SUCH A SERIOUS ISSUE. I wonder why. How much MONEY does UH GIVE these politicians for their campaigns? MMC provides essential, necessary and exceptional medical services for the people of the Bronx and Westchester. I wonder what it will take to mobilize the politicians (all democrats) to DEFEND their voters? Sad. Such BS. Where is the MAYOR? The Governor? How many people have to die to fix this? Money talks. The rest is BS
