City Limits is proud to be the Octavio Dotel of the nonprofit journalism world. Dotel, as you know, played for more teams than anyone in the history of major league baseball: 13 in all, including the Mets and Yankees. In the past five years, City Limits has been a part of partnerships with The Nation, NY World, Gothamist, The Lens of New Orleans, MetroFocus, City & State, the Institute for Nonprofit News, The Lens, Detroit MetroTimes, KALW-San Francisco, the Media Consortium and more. We’re hosting an event this week with our frequent partners at Gotham Gazette and have an article coming out soon at The Trace. The surprising thing is that we’ve never worked with Dotel himself.
These partnerships always pay off, but two recent ones have generated happy news. Our work with the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism on “The Rap-Sheet Trap” is up for a Deadline Award from the local chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
And the radio elements of our “The Cost of Our Water” series with WNYC won second place in this year’s National Headliner Awards.
