– 700+ campers ages 5-11 will gather at Van Cortlandt Park, participate in field activities that promote health, wellness and nutrition –
(New York, N.Y.) – More than 700 campers from New York City Mission Society’s Summer Power Academy Summer programs will take to the field in Van Cortlandt Park and compete in Olympic Day on Thursday, August 9.
The annual event features field events, team-building exercises, and health, fitness and nutrition activities. The event is designed to let campers show off their smarts, and their physical prowess as well – as youngsters in kindergarten through fifth grade compete throughout the day.
Olympic Day takes place at Van Cortlandt Park, and will feature athletic events such as relay races, kick ball, and track and field events. The area will be divided into 20 stations that promote physical wellness, and include a healthy eating station (to learn how to maintain a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle) and a recovery station (to find out about muscle recovery during exercise).
