Bill Bratton runs the police equivalent of Facebook, perhaps they might want to start there?

Some data on the NYPD site is in Excel. I’m sure the compstat pdfs are based on info coming from spreadsheets. Bratton could order them tomorrow to release info in excel.

All the CCRB data is in PDFs as well. At least they did start releasing the crash data on the open data portal in 2014.

There are no techical reasons they cannot open their data. They do it to avoid public scrutiny.
It is really a shame. There is so much their data could do to improve public safety.
