This half-day teach-in for people of faith will cover current issues related to immigration, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), temporary protected status, and sanctuary. Participants will have the opportunity to meet in small group sessions with representatives of advocacy organizations from religious and secular organizations dedicated to helping immigrants and refugees with asylum and related matters. Speakers include the Very Rev. Michael Battle, Ph.D., Herbert Thompson Professor of Church and Society and Director of the Desmond Tutu Center at General Theological Seminary in New York; Lacy Broemel, Refugee and Immigration Policy Analyst for The Episcopal Church – Office of Government Relations; Amaha Kassa, Executive Director, African Communities Together; and the Rev. Dr. Chloe Breyer, Executive Director, Interfaith Center of New York.
