Join the New York Women’s Foundation as they celebrate women of Queens who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and longstanding commitment to neighborhood-based work on behalf of local women and families on Thursday, September 22nd at LaGuardia Community College. Among those being honored include Katherine H. Kim, Executive Director of the YWCA Queens, Nataly Rubio-Torio, Executive Director of Voces Latinas, and Patricia Simon, Executive Director of the Ocean Bay Community Development Corporation.
The dinner will also recognize Lifetime Achievement Awardees Martha Baker, Political Activist and Founder of The Nontraditional Employment for Women, and Barbara Wynne, Former NYWF Board Chair and Board Alumna. The Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award, recognizing a woman-owned business whose presence enriches the community and demonstrates a deep level of commitment to the borough, will be presented to Andrea Ormeño, Program Director of The Queens Women Business Center.
The Neighborhood Dinner will also feature The Foundation’s grantee partners in Queens whose advocacy and service make the borough a place where women and families can thrive.
The Foundation launched the Neighborhood Leadership Award in 1994 to promote and honor the power of women acting in and for their communities, alternating among New York City’s five boroughs each year. Last year, leaders in Staten Island were recognized.
Registration begins at 6 PM. The program and awards presentations will begin promptly at 7 PM.
