A signature Puerto Rican and Latin American cultural event, the Festival celebrates Loisaida’s pride and diversity while supporting commerce, entrepreneurship, community service and neighborhood revitalization across Loisaida Avenue.
Produced and hosted by The Loisaida, Inc. Center, the LoisaidaFest has been the biggest carnival in downtown Manhattan since 1987, bringing more than 15,000 neighbors, visitors, guests artists, community organizations, companies, NYC leaders and restaurants together to celebrate their Latino contributions to NYC.
This year’s Main Stage lineup at The LoisaidaFest is bringing together a mix of legendary and rising Puerto Rican stars. These include hip-hop singer and Loisaida’s own Daydra Love “DayLuv”, Bronx “grimie-melodic-pop” songstress Maxine Ashley, the L.E.S.’s Lower East Salsa, and Boogaloo Legend Johnny Colon and His Orchestra…, Macha Colón y Los Okapi will be joining the stage courtesy of La Marqueta Retoña. Puerto Rican icon and international entertainment phenomenon, Iris Chacón, will host the festivities alongside Marine-combat-vet-turned actor, singer/activist J.W. Cortes (from FOX’s “Gotham”). The traditional Carnival Procession and the 3rd Annual Loisaida Festival TheaterLab 2016 at La Plaza Cultural Community Garden featuring MEZCOLANZA; Lizbeth Román, Fernandito Ferrer, BombaYo Youth Project, etc… return, providing entertainment for children and their families.
