ST. CLARE SCHOOL HOSTS ‘PAINTING PARTY’ FUNDRAISER TO SEND ITS SEMIFINALIST ROBOTICS TEAM TO NATIONAL FINALS OF “FIRST LEGO League Global Innovation Award” COMPETITION

June 14 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Saint Clare School on Staten Island will host a paint party fundraiser on Thursday, June 14 from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at Pinot’s Palette, 20 Ellis Street, Staten Island, NY, to help raised funds to send its FIRST LEGO League robotics team, the St. Clare Transformers Team 1, to San Jose, California to compete in the FIRST LEGO League Global Innovation Award competition.
During the fundraiser and at the competition, the team will present and demonstrate their new and improved invention model, “the Artist’s Miracle.” The invention is a two bucket system that cleans paint rinse water using chemical and physical means so the water can be reused and the paint disposed of in an environmentally responsible way.
St. Clare Transformers Team 1, selected as semifinalists in the competition, are New York regional winners and one of 20 teams from around the world that were selected for the final round. They will head to the competition in San Jose, California, taking place June 19-21, for the final round. The top team wins an award of $20,000 to develop and market their product.
FIRST LEGO League trains kids to think like innovators. The award encourages and assists teams to further develop original solutions to real-world problems that have the potential to add significant value to the world.
