This March our stage will welcome two fantastic artists Sean Millar and Patrick Freeman who will provide us with a wonderful session of acoustic and indie folk here at the IAC! SongLives showcases some of Ireland and North America’s most exciting contemporary singer-songwriters, working on an intimate and personal scale, bringing the rich tradition of busking on Dublin’s Grafton Street and beyond to New York City.
Singer songwriter Sean Millar (aka Doctor Millar) will provide us with a variety of poetic ballads and soft sounding melodies which resonate with the likeness of folk legends such as Bob Dylan, Lou Reed and Damien Rice. Sean Millar was nominated solo performer of the year at the Heineken Hotpress awards (along with Van Morrison, Paul Brady and Gavin Friday). His first Solo album “The Bitter lie” was voted one of the Best Irish Albums of all time by both Today FM and The Sunday Tribune. His second album “The Deal” was one of the Sunday Times top five albums of the year and has since been included in Tony Clayton Lea’s defining “101 Irish albums you must hear before you die”.
Also Joining us to showcase a more alternative folk atmosphere for the evening will be the fantastic Patrick Freeman. Freeman is a guitarist and songwriter currently based in Dublin. Having spent a number of years as a session musician and performer, he released his EP “Perfect Fit” in 2014 and released his debut album Cherry Blossom in Fall of 2015. Patrick Freeman provides an energetic presentation of a folk and indie fusion while still giving a heartwarming performance.
