Why do half of the world’s children live in grinding poverty?
The Same Heart features a growing number of global economists and moral leaders who agree that an extremely small financial transactions tax, the “Robin Hood Tax,” could place the needs of all children at the heart of the global financial system for the first time. The film includes interviews with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Laureates Kailash Satyarthi, Shirin Ebadi, Wangari Maathai, Mairead Maguire, ethicist Peter Singer and Nobel economists Joseph Stiglitz and Paul Krugman. Suggesting a sustainable approach, The Same Heart follows a dynamic Kenyan community organizer who devotes his life to making programs work from the bottom up.

This beautiful film was recently featured on the closing night of the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize Forum in Minneapolis and we are proud to present the New York premiere of The Same Heart at the New York Society for Ethical Culture. 10:00pm1

Awa Sangho, the “Golden Voice of Mali,” Volker Goetze and Yacouba Sissoko will kick off the evening with a world music concert.

After the screening of The Same Heart, there will be a Q&A with the filmmakers Len and Georgia Morris, Reid Maki of the Child Labor Coalition, Karen Orenstein of Friends of the Earth and Dean Baker of the Center for Economic Policy and Research.

A reception follows for VIP guests, who will receive a copy of the film and soundtrack, and will meet the musicians, panelists and filmmakers.

The evening is co-sponsored by the New York Society for Ethical Culture, Media Voices for Children, the Child Labor Coalition and Friends of the Earth.
