Music: So What’s the Story, Part II explores musical storytelling by presenting programmatic music – works written with the expressed intent of narrative. It also highlights music’s role as one voice of a unique trio of disciplines including cinema and text.
The program features George Enescu’s Impressions d’Enfance, an interdisciplinary “discussion” focusing on varying versions of the origins of the universe, Heinrich von Biber’s “Mystery Sonatas,” a newly commissioned video montage reflecting the beautiful and haunting melodies of famed French New Wave composer George Delerue, and Aaron Copland’s ever popular “Waltz and Hoedown” from his ballet Rodeo.
Violinist and Artistic Director Gil Morgenstern will be joined by pianist J.Y. Song and actors Maryann Plunkett, Jay O. Sanders, and Mickey Solis.
