A local neighborhood newspaper, ‘The Villager’ is sponsoring an event on Monday evening August 21st, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Theater for The New City at 155 First Avenue, (between 9th and 10th Streets).
New Yorkers living in the East Village, Gramercy Park, Kips Bay, the Lower East Side, Murray Hill and Rose Hill are all cordially invited to attend a free debate between the candidates running for City Council in District 2 in the upcoming Democratic primary election on September 12th that encompasses all of these neighborhoods.
In his Villager article Editor Lincoln Anderson, who is co-moderator along with Paul Schindler, Editor of Gay City News says about the debate that:
“. . . it will be in the theater’s largest performance space, so no one will be turned away. The latter part of the debate will feature a Q&A with audience members.
“The Council seat is opening up for the first time in 12 years. Come hear the candidates vying to be the next councilmember as they talk about the district’s pressing issues and their ideas and positions, as they each make the case why she or he would be the best person to lead the community.”

Join the candidates on Monday evening for what promises to be a very enlightening and lively debate!
