The Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG)’s popular Open House returns to the Mark Morris Dance Center in the Brooklyn Cultural District, on Saturday, September 12th from 9:30AM-5PM. The annual event features a day brimming with free events open to the public.
MMDG’s Open House guests enjoy a free sampling of the Dance Center’s wide array of programming: dance and fitness classes for all ages and levels, a Q&A session and Google Glass demonstration from the director of our acclaimed Dance for PD® program, David Leventhal, plus performances of Mark Morris’ repertory by the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Student Company of The School at the Mark Morris Dance Center.
In addition to free classes and performances, the Open House will provide community members with a chance to meet and mingle with faculty and staff, register for children and teen classes at The School, purchase discounted dancewear, and enjoy free food and refreshments provided by local vendors. The Open House serves as the climax of MMDG’s year-round commitment to community engagement activities and is an opportunity for everyone in the community to connect, dance, and learn.
“There’s plenty to do at Open House,” says Artistic Director Mark Morris, “Do it all. Take a class. Watch my company perform. Tour the building. Meet new people. Have a good time. Consider this your dance home. Enjoy it.”
