Hunger and skyrocketing rents are two growing problems for senior citizens in New York City. Many older adults in New York City who are eligible for government assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the NYC Rent Freeze Program (SCRIE and DRIE) are not receiving it.
Older adults who are having trouble making ends meet and who are unsure about their SNAP, SCRIE or DRIE eligibility are invited to attend free events to assess whether they qualify for help.
The free events are being held throughout New York City. LiveOn NY’s team of Benefits Specialists will educate, screen, and assist older adults with applications for food, health, and housing assistance.
