The Hajji Baba Club of New York (America’s oldest club devoted to oriental carpets) will be holding its annual community outreach and education event on Saturday, September 10th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Free of charge and open to the public, this is a show-and-tell, hands-on presentation that offers information and instruction about carpets and their manufacture. Various types of oriental carpet will be discussed, and the way in which such carpets are woven and dyed will be described in detail. Both instructive and fun, this event is designed to help anyone curious about oriental rugs understand what is special about these beautiful and painstakingly-created weavings. Come learn, come be entertained.
This year’s Hajji Baba Club outreach event will be hosted by the Orley Shabahang Gallery, located at 241E. 58th St. (btwn. 2nd and 3rd Ave.). For more information, call the Gallery at: (212) 421-5800.
