Jason Archer is a contemporary artist out of Austin, Texas. A pioneer in the Texas contemporary art scene, Jason’s work fuses Pop Art and cultural archetypes to create modern myths that reimagine historical events, natural phenomena or existing ritual. Now through June 30th, you can view Jason’s Lone Star Empire, an exhibit which features five new works reinterpreting New York history, myths and legends. The new paintings reimagine King Kong, the Statue of Liberty and John McEnroe as Archer’s iconic southwest characters boldly transplanted into Big Apple culture. Five previous works are exhibited alongside the new, portraying variations of Stray of the Dead, Archer’s character creation representing the restless spirit.
