International chanteuse Adrienne Haan performs Between Fire and Ice – A diabolical Weimar Berlin Cabaret at Feinstein’s 54 Below on Wednesday, February 22 at 7:00pm. Known as an “exceptional song interpreter with a grand voice,” Haan’s musical historical journey is under the musical direction of pianist Richard Danley. Feinstein’s 54 Below is located at 254 West 54th Street in New York City. Tickets range from $25-$60, additional $5 fee at the door, plus a $25 dollar food/beverage minimum and are available by phone at 646-476-3551 or www.54below.com.
In this soirée, Haan celebrates the songs depicting Berlin during the 1920’s: a time of change, challenge, experiments and when traditions went down the drain. With the first World War lost and the Kaiser in exile, Germany began to experiment with a new form of government: the Weimar Republic was born and with it a nation longing for latitude. Come and celebrate the Golden Age, the dance on the volcano between the two World Wars, a time of creativity, art, music and culture, the women’s movement, and gay liberation. Haan re-lives this bodacious period probing the ties between feminist struggle and female glamour, taking you on an enchanting musical voyage through history.
