At our Annual Family Concert the GVO and conductor Barbara Yahr welcome children and families to an interactive program featuring talented youngsters from the Actionplay chorus and from the Brooklyn Conservatory in music by Bizet, Prokofiev, and Copland and more. Dance to Brahms, sing along with Dvorak, and check out our instrument petting zoo at a reception in the lobby afterwards.
Music therapy at the BKCM addresses the developmental, emotional, psychological and social needs of children and adults through active music-making in a relationship with a music therapist.
Actionplay is an NYC-based programming, outreach, and education organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals on the autism spectrum, their families, and the community at large. The Actionplay chorus is part of an inclusive, improvisational music, art and performance workshop for children, teens and adults on the autism spectrum and with related conditions.
