As we head into the giving season, the philanthropic foundation Carnegie Corporation of New York and its family of institutions has organized an online tribute that gives thanks to the everyday #GivingHero, whose generosity inspires us all and cultivates a world of positive change.
Americans are invited to join in this public service initiative by posting and sharing stories about their #GivingHero. The campaign also recognizes the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy recipients and our founder and #GivingHero, Andrew Carnegie, who was a Scottish immigrant and one of the country’s earliest philanthropists.
The highlight will be the evening of Saturday, November 25, Carnegie’s birthday, when the Empire State Building will join in the celebration by lighting its iconic tower in the colors of the Carnegie Medal’s tartan—navy, purple and yellow.
Who is your #GivingHero? Post your stories to Facebook at @MedalofPhilanthropy and Twitter at @CarnegieMedal. Favorite #GivingHero stories will be featured on the Carnegie Medal website and social media streams.
