Girls of the gridiron – nearly 70 athletes in their 20s and 30s – will battle it out on the football field in NYC’s seventh annual Powder Puff Charity Football Game, a flag football competition, to raise money for CaringKind, NYC’s leading expert in Alzheimer’s and dementia care for more than three decades. CaringKind
was formerly known as the Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter. The charity event, called TackleALZ NYC, is expected to raise $200,000 to support the free programs and services that benefit the New York City families affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia.
The two teams will be divided to reflect the age-old rivalry between fair and dark-haired women. Redheads and women with “alternative hair color” will play for the team of their choice. Coaches, announcers, and fans will be on hand to help build an atmosphere of fierce, but friendly competition. A complement of retired NFL
players, including Jude Waddy, a retired San Diego Chargers linebacker, will serve as honorary coaches.
Connor Rogers with Bleacher Report will announce the game.
