Local 802’s Jazz in the Afternoon concert series returns in 2018 and will continue to provide New Yorkers of all ages the opportunity to watch the city’s best jazz musicians hone their skills for free! The renowned Ross Kratter Jazz Orchestra will perform at Local 802’s Club Room on Thursday, January 14th at 5:00 pm.
The Ross Kratter Jazz Orchestra was founded by bass player, composer, and arranger Ross Kratter in 2010. Kratter is a well-known jazz musician and has performed with such notable and varied artists as Joshua Redman, the Drifters, Bob Franceschini, Victor Wooten, Bob Reynolds, Mike Longo’s New York State of the Art Jazz Ensemble, Randy Johnston, Badal Roy, Joe Alterman, Domenick Allen, Scott Record, Frank Lacy, the Gabriel Alegría Afro-Peruvian Sextet, Allen Vizzutti, and many more.
The Jazz Orchestra, comprised of members of the Mike Stern Band, Arturo O’Farrill’s Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, Victor Wooten Band, Postmodern Jukebox, Streetlight Manifesto, various Broadway show orchestras, and many more, has played all over New York to sold-out audiences since its founding in 2010.
While there is no charge for admission, donations of any amount are accepted to benefit the NYC Musician’s Emergency Relief Fund of American Federation of Musicians Local 802, which helps musicians in times of crisis. Donations can be made in cash or by check or credit card.
