Derailing Trump’s Agenda: Protecting our Rights and Democracy

March 22, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us for “Derailing the Trump Agenda: Protecting our Rights, Health, Environment and Democracy”, our first of three public education events for our Rise Up Act Up NOW series on Thursday, March 22nd. We want to cut through the news tsunami to find out how the Trump administration is affecting our civil liberties and democracy. Together, we can rise up and resist NOW!

This event will be an empowering conversation about the role of women in leading the fight for civil rights in our nation today. We will discuss some sobering setbacks and policy changes quickly and quietly being enacted under the Trump administration — from lifting bans on toxic pesticides to stacking the federal appeals courts with white, anti-choice judges, Trump’s actions are receiving little media coverage. Yet, we are seeing an unprecedented surge in civic engagement and a dynamic women’s movement leading the resistance.

This will be an interactive, thought-provoking discussion with civil rights leaders, advocates, and experts. We’ll brainstorm tips and tools on how to proactively defend our rights and our democracy before it’s too late.

– Moderator: Sonia Ossorio, President of the National Organization for Women-NYC
– David Cay Johnston, author of “It’s Even Worse Than You Think: What the Trump Administration Is Doing to America”; tax law professor at Syracuse University
– Vincent Warren, Executive Director of the Center for Constitutional Rights

More speakers to be announced soon. This event is free and open to the public.
