Shred your personal documents for free, protect your identity, and learn identity theft prevention tips at the City’s 9th annual Shred Fest, which will take place over two days. The City encourages individuals to participate in the secure disposal of mail and other documents that contain personal identifying information, such as old bank statements, paycheck stubs, and credit card applications. All documents will be shredded by mobile shred trucks and all shredded paper will be recycled. Make sure you arrive early—shredding trucks will be available at 10 locations across the five boroughs during the weekend and available starting at 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (latest) or until they fill, which may be sooner. The event is hosted by the Department of Consumer Affairs in cooperation with the Department of Parks & Recreation, the Department of Sanitation, and Municipal Credit Union.
These events are FREE and open to the public. For more information and a list of all locations, please contact 311 or visit nyc.gov/ShredFest.
