Chelsea Opera revives its 2010 production of Glory Denied, an opera by composer/librettist Tom Cipullo, based on the oral biography of Tom Philpott, tell the true story of the longest-held prisoner of war in American history, Colonel Jim Thompson. During nine years of captivity in Vietnam, he endured unspeakable horrors. He returned home to his wife and life in America, both of which had moved on, leaving him alone and disillusioned. The opera is sung by the younger and older versions of the two characters, Col. Thompson and his wife, Alyce.
