BROOKLYN WATERFRONT ARTISTS COALITION
FALL GROUP ART SHOWS
October 3-25, weekends 1-6PM
Put BWAC’s Fall Group Art Shows on your list of must-do cultural events this season. It is the perfect weekend escape – located at a spectacular waterfront site overlooking the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor. It is across from the Fairway supermarket and down the block from IKEA in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, with trendy boutiques and restaurants galore. It is accessible by public transportation and biking is a breeze!
The Fall Shows continue with “Face To Face”, “Origins in Clay”, “Sculpture Affiliates” and “Grand Installations”
Also, on Saturday Oct. 10 we present:
Hurricane 2: On the tenth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, two films to commemorate with art the life and death struggle with nature…a documentary, Stood the Storm, about the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina on one mother and daughter over the four years following the storm; and a short film, Pepper and the Salt Sea, where a Red Hook artist loses everything to Superstorm Sandy but the sea gives back…Following the films will be a Q & A with the filmmaker as well as some BWAC artists that were victims of the storm. (Oct 10)
Held on Sundays at 3PM, the UnPlugged in Red Hook performance series features acoustic music in varied genres – like an 8 year old Brooklyn prodigy playing two Bach cello suites and folk-opera-based performance art.
