For many classical music lovers the Yuletide season does not truly begin until one hears Handel’s masterwork, Messiah. This beloved oratorio with its distinctive overture and engaging, familiar choruses continues to be an audience favorite. Maestro Galván has chosen the New Novello Choral Edition (Shaw) score for this concert and will present the Christmas portion of the Messiah with additional choruses. Soloists for the performance are: Malaika Alvaro, soprano; Alexandra Fetner, mezzo soprano; Anthony Cinelli, tenor and Dalton Taylor, bass. The instrumental selection for this program is Handel’s sprightly Concerto Grosso in G major, HWV 314.
Tickets are available in advance and at the door from BCS: General admission is $20 / two for $35, seniors and students with valid ID, $15 and children through high school, $5. Tickets may also be charged through Brown Paper Tickets by phone at 1-800-838-3006, or online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/885744 .
