Because you shouldn’t feel ashamed of your body…
Bodies and Weight: Theatre for Health Explores Weight with Adult Women
If you are a woman over the age of 18 who is interested in understanding what it means to be fat in today’s society, how about participating in theatre-based workshops that explore what it’s like to be overweight, fat, obese, chubby, pleasantly plump — well, you know what I mean – in the US?
These theatre-based workshops are not about dieting or weight loss, just in understanding the experiences of the women who participate in them. You’ll create still images, tell and enact stories, improvise, and play fun theatre games all that explore the issue of obesity for women.
Participants will receive a Metrocard to defray travel costs for each session. Those who participate in the whole series will receive a gift card at its completion.
Dates (Saturdays from 10am-1pm): 9/12 & 9/26; 10/10 & 10/24; 11/7 & 11/21; 12/5 & 12/19; 1/16 & 1/30; 2/6 & 2/27; 3/12 & 3/26.
