Beethoven: The Complete Works for Cello and Piano

Pianist and host of NPR’s From the Top Christopher O’Riley and acclaimed cellist Matt Haimovitz perform Beethoven’s most iconic works for cello and piano in two concerts, on a replica of a six-and-one-half-octave Viennese fortepiano (ca. 1830) by R.J. Regier (Freeport, Maine), modeled after Graf and Bösendorfer, commissioned and owned by the Juilliard School.
Two concerts, two different programs.
Program One:
Sonata for Pianoforte and Violoncello in F Major, Op. 5, No. 1
I. Adagio sostenuto – Allegro
II. Rondo: Allegro vivace
Twelve Variations on “Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen” for Cello and Piano, Op. 66
Sonata for Pianoforte and Violoncello in G minor, Op. 5, No. 2
I. Adagio sostenuto ed espressivo – Allegro molto più tosto presto
II. Rondo: Allegro
Twelve Variations on “See the Conquering Hero Comes” for Cello and Piano
