Hailed by The Scotsman as, “ahead of its time, the most important on the Edinburgh Fringe,” The POOP Project now joins forces with the same festival that brought us Urinetown: The Musical to bring up the rear with An Inconvenient Poop.
What if the solution to climate change, world peace, and self-love was something no one wanted to talk about? As the uptight Dr. Oscar von Shtein begins his FRED Talk on “Proustian Ethics of Fireplace Building,” he is interrupted by the mysterious Puru. Forced to get real about the unnameable taboo that clogs our bodies, communities and climate, can Oscar face his shit before it hits the fan? Fascinating, hilarious and totally timely, AN INCONVENIENT POOP asks us to take the plunge, join a revolution pushing for change from the bottom up, and proudly declare “I’m a pooper!”
Shawn “The Puru” Shafner founded The People’s Own Organic Power Project (www.thePOOPproject.org) to catalyze conversation about sustainable sanitation. A CBC Radio One “Waste Warrior,” works include Flush: The Documentary (www.goflushyourself.com), the musical Eat $h*t at Edinburgh Fringe, performances at Madison Square, in Dubai, Jerusalem and the United Nations for World Toilet Day.
