American Composers Orchestra: Steve Reich’s Tehillim and more

March 24, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

American Composers Orchestra (ACO), led by conductor George Manahan, continues its 40th Anniversary Season with Past Forward, illustrating the role the past plays in the present, from composers’ own personal explorations of their roots, to broader investigations of memory and recollection. The concert celebrates Steve Reich’s 80th birthday with a performance of his monumental work Tehillim for four female singers & chamber orchestra. ACO will also present three world premieres: Paola Prestini’s The Hotel that Time Forgot with video by Mami Kosemura; Trevor Weston’s Flying Fish, which honors his Barbadian heritage; and ACO’s 2015 Underwood Commission winner David Hertzberg’s Chamber Symphony.
