More than 300 homeless dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, and rabbits — all available for adoption — will be waiting to meet you at Adoptapalooza, NYC’s original mega pet adoption event.
Hosted by the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals (the Alliance), and presented in partnership with the Petco Foundation, this event offers fun for the whole family!
In addition to pet adoptions, Adoptapalooza features: tricks and training tips from a certified Petco trainer on the Merrick Dog Training Field; face painting and fun temporary tattoos for kids by The Cheeky Chipmunk; dog licensing by the NYC Department of Health (licenses are required by law and are $8.50, or $34.00 for dogs who have not been spayed/neutered); free (for the first 50) and low-cost ($15) microchips for dogs and cats by Vetco; emergency preparedness information from New York City Emergency Management/ Ready New York; free pet photos by the Alliance and free personalized pet ID tags courtesy of the Alliance; and giveaways from event sponsors. Rock & Rawhide, a non-profit organization that distributes donated supplies to shelters and rescue groups, will collect clean blankets, towels, and pet toys for shelter animals.
Visitors can also pick up free pet food samples, other products, and information from pet-related vendors and will have the opportunity to learn about other NYC animal organizations.
The great pets looking for new families at Adoptapalooza – all spayed/neutered and vaccinated – are presented for adoption by more than thirty local shelters and rescue groups that participate in the Alliance. Adoption fees vary by rescue organization.
