Come experience ancient history through dance, romance, and contemporary music in the highly-original rock opera “Anna and Vladimir: The Love That ROCKED The World” presented at the historic Flushing Town Hall.
“Anna and Vladimir: The Love That ROCKED The World,” is based on the history of Russia and Greece, two ancient cultures represented by the relationship between St. Vladimir of Russia and Anna Porphyrogenita of Byzantium, who fell in love after overcoming personal struggles and fears. The opera incorporates rock and roll, dance, and theatrics to delight audiences and features original music by the band Porphyra. The name Porphyra “Πορφύρα” means the Purple or Porphyry Chamber; a pavilion of the Great Palace of Constantinople where no child born anywhere else could legitimately be called Porphyrogénnētos (born in the purple)-the birthright of all Emperors and Empresses of Constantinople.
