More than 200 New York tri-state area and international robotic teams (ages 9-18) will compete in the 16th Annual NYC FIRST Robotics Competition and Expo. This three-day event brings a series of high-stake, high-intensity robotic competitions under one roof, mixed with exciting expos and college and career fairs.
High school students will put their custom-built robots to the test in a three-on-three sports-style tournament, while elementary and middle-schoolers will battle against one another in high-tech, designated challenges. Winning teams will advance to represent the NYC region at the FIRST World Championship in St. Louis on April 27 – 30.
These robotics programs featured at the competition are offered by NYC FIRST, the local nonprofit affiliate of FIRST® – an international nonprofit that inspires students to get involved in science and technology and prepare them for jobs of the future. The programs introduce students at various grade levels to the thrill of hands-on robotics, research, teamwork and inquiry-based problem solving, in order to spark a lifelong passion for science and technology.
