Barkan for State Senate

Ross Barkan has gone from chasing quotes to seeking votes.

Among Ross Barkan’s considerable body of work as a journalist are two clips for City Limits. One is about the impact of superstorm Sandy on small businesses. The other was about the ethical ickiness of consultants who work on election campaigns and, once their client assumes office, lobby them on behalf of other interests. Barkan has also written about City Limits, a little, in a Columbia Journalism Review article last fall discussing the shortage of local news coverage.

Now, Barkan is a subject for us, and for other reporters, because he is running for the state senate in a Brooklyn district.

Barkan joined the Max & Murphy podcast on Tuesday to discuss his decision to run, his chances of defeating fellow Democrat Andrew Gounardes and incumbent GOP Sen. Martin Golden and his agenda if elected.
