Last week, City Limits reported that foundation giving declined 2.5 percent in 2003. But another study released by the New York City-based Foundation Center shows that in the niche field of health policy, foundation grants are actually on the rise. Giving by foundations increased 259 percent between 1995 and 2002 by foundation to health-related research, public education and advocacy, with health policy in particular the big winner. It received 12 percent of overall health grants in 2002 compared to 9 percent in the mid-1990s. [04/19/04]
