FYI: Mayor Bloomberg continued his week of promoting his economic development vision yesterday by announcing a redevelopment agreement for East Harlem’s La Marqueta, a 50,000-square foot retail market Mayor LaGuardia set up in 1936 to house pushcart vendors. The East Harlem Business Capital Corporation, a community development group, will work with the city’s Economic Development Corporation to create a plan, budget and timeline for the project. The market, to be dubbed the Marqueta Internacional, runs along city-owned land, below the Metro-North viaduct between 111th and 116th Streets. [10/24/03]
