FYI: Seventy-four percent of New Yorkers in a National Association of Realtors survey released last week said they want policymakers to focus more on affordable housing for renters and homeowners, and 76 percent said they consider a candidate’s stance on affordable housing important when they vote. Researchers polled 1,000 people in the top 25 media markets on a host of housing questions for the report. Other findings for New York were that 42 percent of respondents cited the fear that they would never own a home as a “big worry,” and 55 percent believed an affordable housing crisis is hurting the economy.
