FYI: The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) has cancelled its primary job training program, originally introduced in July 2002, and plans to reallocate the program’s remaining $9.5 million to aid small businesses and not-for-profits located below 14th Street. In announcing the change last week, LMDC said it had received only 24 applications for its $10 million in federal job training funds, and that it has awarded $500,000 of that money. Meanwhile, it got too many applications for its Business Recovery Grant Program, prompting the reallocation of funds to the area where there is an immediate demand. [6/3/03]
