FYI: Mayor Bloomberg says his Preliminary Mayor’s Management Report for 2003, released Friday, is easier to use and has more detail than his predecessors’. The mayor’s office has added analysis, historical stats, and a beefed up online mapping tool that allows visitors to get neighborhood-level stats on health, public safety, business, cultural affairs and general services like street cleaning. The mapping tool, first launched in September, has grown to cover 49 statistics relevant to the work of 14 city agencies. What does all this data tell us? Bloomberg claims it shows that only 2.5 percent of 589 agency performance measures have been hurt by his budget cuts–and that agencies are on pace to meet 73 percent of their goals. [2/25/03]
