FYI: A group of Democratic congressmembers lashed out at the Bush administration yesterday for altering the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s official position on the role and use of condoms in disease prevention. In a letter sent to Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson, lawmakers took issue with changes the CDC made in its condom fact sheet. Two notable deletions: instructions on how to use condoms and research showing that condom education doesn’t increase sexual activity in young people. Lawmakers charge the move was part of the department’s pullback from aggressive HIV prevention. [12/19/02]
