FYI: More than 800,000 city residents who are eligible for food stamps aren’t getting them, thanks to lingering effects of the Giuliani administration’s aggressive efforts to move people off of public assistance, the advocacy and social service group Community Food Resource Center charges in an analysis published yesterday. The report breaks down “unmet need” by borough and community district: Brooklyn tops the list with over 280,000 eligible but unenrolled residents, while Bronx enrollment has shrunk the most dramatically, down 47 percent since 1996.
