FYI: The Villager reports Senator Tom Duane, Councilmember Christine Quinn and Community Board 4 have joined Assemblymember Richard Gottfried’s effort to sink Target’s plan to dock a boat-store at Pier 62 during the holiday season. The city and state are developing a five-mile park along the Hudson River and have put stiff limits on commercial use of the Piers—rules Gottfried et al say the Target stunt clearly violates. Target, however, will donate $50,000 or five percent of sales to the Hudson River Park Trust, which is currently $100 million in the red. [11/08/02]
