Housing Conservation Coordinators, Inc. (HCC) is a 45 year old community-based, not-for-profit organization anchored in the Hell's Kitchen/Clinton neighborhood of Manhattan's west side. We are dedicated to advancing social and economic justice and fighting for the rights of poor, low-income and working individuals and families. With a primary focus on strengthening and preserving affordable housing, we seek to promote a vibrant and diverse community with the power to shape its own future.
Each year HCC assists more than 3,500 residents resolve housing-related problems through our core programs: legal services, tenant & community organizing, weatherization assistance, HDFC revolving loan program and technical training classes. Housing Conservation Coordinators (HCC) seeks a Supervising Attorney to join a dedicated team of staff attorneys and tenant organizers working to preserve affordable housing on Manhattan’s West side. The Supervising Attorney will supervise 6-7 full-time staff attorneys, reporting to the Legal Director. S/he will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of client service and representation, training and supervision of new and experienced staff, monitoring of grant reporting requirements, maintaining a modified personal caseload and overseeing intake and equitable distribution of cases.
- Four years of housing law experience
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Adherence to time sensitive reporting requirements
- Ability to work with a diverse team and client base
- Willingness to partner with non-attorney advocates
- Commitment to maintaining affordable housing
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus
