In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the American Jewish Historical Society will host “Bubby: Kosher Love Advice in Unkosher Times,” a fashion photo series featuring real bubbies imparting love and life tips to young generations on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 pm in the Forchheimer Auditorium at the AJHS (15 West 16th Street).
The photo series, shot by Los Angeles-based photographer Jackson Davis, is a collaboration between two female founded brands, Bubby, a Jewish inspired matchmaking app, and fashion brand Unkosher Market. This collaboration draws on old world values and reintroduces them as relevant – even sexy – to the modern world, offering a new alternative to the realities of what modern dating has become.
“Bubby: Kosher Love Advice in Unkosher Times” celebrates the beauty and wisdom that can only be achieved through a bubbies’ own Jewish life experiences. The woman in the series, also align with larger movement in fashion, where models over the age of sixty are taking center stage. Each of the bubbies’ photos will be accompanied with love advice.
The event encourages guests to BYOB: Bring Your Own Bubby. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for students, seniors and AJHS members, and $18 at the door. Music, drinks, and food will be provided. Advanced tickets encouraged (http://www.ajhs.org/bubby-kosher-love-advice-unkosher-times)
