Flaherty NYC: Closing Night – Life/Death and Afterlife Filmmakers Kim Miller and Kasper Akhøj in person!

March 29, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Flaherty NYC is a seasonal screening series which presents innovative and groundbreaking films, followed by discussions with the makers on aesthetics, the production process, and the challenges of the work. In the last installation of Flaherty NYC this season, “Life/Death and Afterlife,” the program looks at
ghosts as border crossers. Their transmissions raise questions as to the distinctions between and inviolability of physical and metaphysical bodies. Three films that will be screened depict communities who enlist “ethereal agents” that uncover uncanny aspects in the daily drama of life and labor and investigate the vagaries of life and death through the medium of performance and storytelling, narrating exquisite transfers from the realm of the living to the dead and back again.
